Wow! What an amazing experience Human IT had attending The Connecting Up Conference early May. We were able to share our sound industry knowledge, brainstorm new ideas and embrace new technology to help amazing not-for-profit organisations make a difference!

In a thought provoking key note Tim Costello explored the impact of digital technology on our communities, does it create greater isolation or connectedness? Acknowledging that digital technology creates a great number of benefits in connecting our global communities it has the potential to ‘disembody’ communication. He challenged the digital generation to ‘connect people with purpose’ and to foster empathy, trust, values and ethics in our digital connectedness.


Yvette Adams is a serial entrepreneur and a multi-award winning business woman including winning the ICT Woman of the Year at the iAwards in 2013 and the Commonwealth Bank Business Owner category at the Telstra Business Womens in Queensland in 2010. She has started six businesses, has sold two, acquired one, and currently runs three – The Creative Collective – a digital marketing agency specialising in social media; The Training Collective – a digital skills training organisation, and – an online portal which helps people find business awards to enter.

In a power packed hour Yvette shared how NFP organisations can create greater awareness and deeper engagement with their audiences through clever design , practical marketing campaigns, Search Engine Optimisation and using Social Media effectively. Yvette also shared a step-by-step guide to developing an effective digital marketing strategy and provided a list of fantastic digital tools to help us all save time and focus on doing what we do best.
